WPT is actively supporting victims of crime in a number of ways.
WPT has a statutory responsibility to make contact with victims of sexual or violent offences (where the offender has been sentenced to 12 months or more). The victims are provided with general information about what will happen to the offender during the prison sentence.
Importantly, victims are able to express their views and concerns about an offenders release and these will be passed to those who make decisions about release arrangements for offenders. This will influence the types of conditions imposed on an offender on release, for example this can include conditions to keep away from the victim and their home.
The Trust also works with offenders to make them understand the impact their crimes have had, and may continue to have, on their victims.
